 Every year Wanborough
Primary School arranges an induction schedule for those children who have
confirmed places in the Reception year for the coming September. These
include information evenings for parents & children (with crèche) which
present the opportunity to meet staff, ask any questions and order school
uniform.
There will also be induction sessions for the children. For each visit the
children occupy a room within the school which allows them to familiarise
themselves with the layout and facilities on offer and get to know their
Reception teacher and support staff. The children take packed lunches in
with them and will be invited to sample some of the food which will be
available to them from the school canteen.
During the summer term the Reception teacher usually visits each child at
home to get to meet them in their own environment, which has an extra
‘one-to-one’ benefit.
This induction programme has proved hugely beneficial in allowing the
children to feel settled and comfortable at the Primary School by
introducing them gradually to their new environment and experience life at
'the big school'. Full details will be made available via the Playgroup
website and by letter from the school.
